The 13th RoboBoat Competition was held online, due to the in-person event being cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. With 8 teams representing México and the United States and territories.
STATUS UPDATE: While we didn’t have the opportunity to meet in person this year, we stayed engaged and shifted efforts online to highlight and reward teams' incredible work. We ended the summer with RoboNation's first-ever Virtual Awards Party to announce prizes and gear up for 2021.

AGH Solar Boat, team from Cracow, Poland, which built a zero-emission racing boat that uses 100% renewable solar energy and won 3rd place in the most prestigious competition in Monaco. This year they are starting their adventure also with autonomous boats.

The Marine Robotics club is a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, computer, and ocean engineering students; as well as business, design, and science majors from Florida Atlantic University. We utilize our experiences to develop autonomous systems for the marine environment while providing members with practical experience in the application of engineering principles.

Barunastra comes from two words; Varuna/Baruna which, according to Hindu belief, means the God of the sea and Astra meaning a weapon. Thus, Barunastra means the weapon of the sea God. Barunastra ITS Team focuses on the research of Autonomous Robots Vessels since 2012. There are 3 main divisions that play an important role in this team, Mechanics, Electro-Programming, and Official. Our core vision is developing unmanned vessels to foster the world’s maritime technology advancement.

MW in ancient Egyptian language means water. MW is a seasoned undergraduate team, based in Cairo, Egypt, representing the Military Technical College and specialized in building maritime autonomous systems, ASV and ROV. Loaded with thousands of years of ancient Egyptian legacy of ship building. Although 2019 was the first entry for MW, which was full of logistics issues, but got rewarded the rapid prototyping award. This year 2020, MW are much more into the challenge.

Autonomous Marine Vehicle Universitas Indonesia (AMV UI) is one of the divisions in Robotics Team Universitas Indonesia (TRUI) that develops unmanned ship technology. Starting from the creative ideas of several students in developing maritime technology and robotics in 2012, a team that has innovation spirit and huge eagerness to contribute for Indonesia was founded.

Roboboat at CU is an organization that competes in the Robonation roboboat competition. Out team designs autonomous, robotic boats to navigate and race through an aquatic obstacle course. We are excited to be involved in the RoboBoat Competition.

The Iowa Marine Autonomous Racing Club (IMARC) is a multi-disciplinary club comprised of students (of all majors and skill levels), faculty, and industry partners that are working together to build an autonomous boat for entry in the Roboboat Competition. Our subgroups include the Hull and Propulsion Team, Software Team, and Hardware team. We are looking forward to making our return to the Roboboat Competition.

This is the UL Lafayette team’s second year competing in RoboBoat. Our team has grown and been extended to include several graduate students, whose research is being leveraged by the team. The majority of the team members also conduct research in the CRAWLAB within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

UM::Autonomy is an award-winning undergraduate student project team from the University of Michigan. Each year we build an autonomous boat to participate in the RoboNation Roboboat competition. The boat is completely designed and programmed by students. We aim to provide students with hands-on multidisciplinary design experience in artificial intelligence, naval architecture, and electrical engineering. Each year we strive to push the physical and conceptual bounds of our autonomous vehicle.

The UWF Marine Robotics Team was established with a goal of designing, building, and programming an autonomous marine vehicle capable of completing the challenges of the RoboBoat competition. We have continued to move towards our goal one system, component, and line of code at a time by exploiting electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering skills. Our team is excited about competing with the hope of RoboBoat becoming an annual event for UWF.
